Despite being colorblind from birth, Jodi has learned to use this, not as a limitation, but as one of her creative superpowers—painting in unique color stories that reflect the colors she can see in reality and in her heart. Her work invites the viewer into their own hero’s journey of being an overcomer—someone pursuing truth and hope in the midst of challenges. Her paintings are multi-layered with explorations in intuitive play, mark-making, texture, transparency, pattern, and light. Though each piece appears powerful from a distance, up close the hidden bits are what unveil the true story of each piece. Jodi is passionate about exploring inevitable transformation in her work, especially through the symbols, subject matter, and the themes she chooses with each piece. She works to express and highlight the paradox of finding one’s true identity in the face of uncertainty—specifically, in the life of individual pursuit, neurodiversity, mental health and spirituality.
